Saankhya Labs: Indian Railways: Mobile satellite terminals to improve trains punctuality
Indian Railways, as part of its initiative to enhance train timings and safety, has successfully deployed over 2,600 Mobile Satellite Service (MSS) terminals on locomotives under Phase I of the Real Time Train Information System (RTIS). This pioneering system is the first satellite-based train tracking solution in India, enabling real-time tracking of locomotives through ISRO’s satellite network.
RTIS is designed to revolutionize train operations by improving network efficiency, enhancing punctuality, and generating valuable operational data to optimize the performance of Indian Railways. This initiative represents a significant leap toward modernizing railway infrastructure and ensuring better service delivery.
