World-over, x-DSL (copper) remains the most widely used first mile for residential services. With the right mix of Ethernet Transport, Ethernet Switching and SDH, Tejas can enable Service Providers to offer a range of Residential services in the most scalable, cost-effective manner.
Voice over IP
Support for Hard Quality of Service in Tejas equipment implies that all VoIP traffic gets the highest priority in the network to meet restrictions on delay, latency and jitter. The VoIP data can also be provided with sub-50-ms protection, thus ensuring a continuous reliable service too all VoIP users.
IPTV
IPTV implies video transmission of channels to the homes. Tejas equipment has support for IGMP snooping functionality, thus allowing for the automatic update of Ethernet Multicast tables based on the communication from the Set-top-boxes to the Multicast servers. Support for Jumbo Frames ensures efficient and effective transmission of all Video Ethernet frames across the network, ensuring low latency as well as optimal bandwidth usage.
Broadband Access
Broadband access is a best-effort service that is provided for Internet access to residential customers. Tejas equipment provides Ethernet aggregation functionality for the broadband traffic, and the traffic is statistically multiplexed and carried to higher networks. Tejas equipment supports as many as 16K MAC addresses to be learnt in a network. Coupled with the use of SDH VCGs and SP-VLANs, a network built on Tejas equipment can support several tens of thousands of broadband subscribers in a metro network.
