Scalability through Support for Q-in-Q or VLAN Stacking

The Tejas Carrier Ethernet over Next-Generation-SDH/SONET solution supports the full-range of both Customer VLANs and Service Provider VLANs. VLAN stacking, or Q-in-Q, enables the Service Provider to maintain the integrity of the traffic and keep one customer's traffic separated from another's. Tejas products support up to 4K Service Provider VLANs (SP-VLANs), thus enabling the Service Provider to support up to 16K Virtual Private Networks. A network based on Tejas nodes can be divided into 4K logical entities .These 4K Service-Provider VLANs can not only be used to separate and identify enterprise customers uniquely in the Metro Network, but can also be used to identify and prioritize the various services (e.g. IP-TV, DSL Gold Customer, DSL Bronze Customer, Ethernet Leased Line Customers) that the Service Provider provides out of the Metro Network.
