Broadcast Storm control is a phenomenon where a network is overwhelmed with broadcast or multicast traffic from a malfunctioning node leading to complete loss of network connectivity or a malicious user trying to swamp the network. Tejas products allow enabling or disabling Broadcast Storm Control on a per-port basis thus, avoiding connectivity loss. Thus, the Metro Networks can considerably limit the effect that any broadcast attack would cause.
Access Control Lists provide network control and security, allowing you to filter packet flow into or out of the network. This can be especially useful in enterprise applications to block-out traffic from complete departments or selected nodes.
