The TJ3101 is a compact 1U high, C/DWDM Access Platform in the Tejas portfolio. Tejas TJ3000 series of products are characterized by a unique ability to combine SDH/SONET, Ethernet Switching, CWDM and DWDM technologies in the same enclosure.
The TJ3101 chassis has one slot for a Traffic unit (Transponder or MuxPonder) and a separate Control Unit is not required to provide an aggregated management view. Instead the unit processor on the Traffic unit contains the node manager which is accessed via CLI commands or via an internet browser providing a graphical user interface (GUI). Remote login to other network elements is done via embedded management channels that are provided by the Traffic units.
TJ3101 chassis has redundant fan units as well as redundant primary power inlets. The TJ3000 family of products has a generic backplane thus reducing cost of spare parts and ensures low operational costs since all nodes can be optimized from size and capacity perspective.
A passive TJ3101 is also provided having three slots for passive units. The passive TJ3101, as an example, can be equipped with AD-filters (Add-Drop) and placed in a non-temperature stabilized environment close to the line fiber. The extracted wavelengths are connected via a fiber-pair to the active TJ3101 equipped with a Transponder. The active TJ3101 chassis is placed in a controlled environment together with the client equipment. TJ3101 is perfect for small collector nodes in e.g. Triple-Play networks due to its compact size.
