Tejas Networks launches its TJ2000 Carrier Ethernet Platform
Incorporates the Industry’s first implementation of Ethernet Ring Protection Switching
Berlin, Germany, Sept 23, 2008 – Tejas Networks, a leading enabler of high-performance transmission infrastructure, announced the launch of its TJ2000 series of Carrier Ethernet platforms at the Carrier Ethernet World Congress 2008 (CEWC), Berlin. Tejas Networks is showcasing the TJ2030 (part of the TJ2000 series) at the Interop Event 2008 demonstrating end-to-end Carrier Ethernet Service delivery over a PBB/PBB-TE Aggregation Network. At this event the TJ2030 demonstrated the industry’s first implementation of ring protection based on ITU-T G.8032.
The TJ2000 are a series of compact nodes which are designed for use in the access/metro network. These equipments enable highly-scalable Ethernet networks through the adoption of PBB/PBB-TE. The TJ2030 is capable of catering to a wide range of applications segments ranging from Residential Triple-Play Services (DSL-based Broadband, IPTV), Mobile Backhaul and Enterprise Services (Point-to-Point & Multipoint Ethernet Services).
Sanjay Nayak, CEO Tejas Networks said “We are delighted to introduce the TJ2000 series of products which are conforming to the latest Carrier Ethernet standards. We are excited to be at the forefront of technology as demonstrated during the Interop testing being conducted by EANTC at the CEWC. We are seeing very positive feedback on this product line from our customers, who believe that we offer tremendous value proposition for migrating them from legacy optical networks to next-generation networks in a seamless and cost-effective way.”
Commenting on the occasion, John Hayduk, Chief Technology Officer, Tata Communications Limited, said “Tejas Networks is an innovative company introducing new Ethernet technologies that have been very useful to carriers. Tata Communications has been using Tejas Networks’ equipment to deliver Ethernet services predominantly in India in the past few years. Tejas is also working actively with Tata Communications to develop new Ethernet products as the market evolves.”

About the TJ2000 Product Series
The TJ2000 series is based on a suite of cutting edge technologies, only recently standardized by leading technology agencies like IEEE, ITU and MEF. TJ2000 implements Provider Backbone Bridging (PBB, standardized as IEEE 802.1ah) to provide highly scalable networks. It also supports Ethernet Transport Network (ETN) based on a new connection-oriented Ethernet protocol, Provider Backbone Bridges – Traffic Engineered (PBB-TE, standardized as IEEE 802.1Qay) or more commonly referred to as PBT in the industry. Carrier-class protection is provided by Ethernet Linear Protection Switching (ELPS, standardized as ITU G.8031) and Ethernet Ring Protection Switching (ERPS, standardized as ITU G.8032). TJ2000 also brings the latest and best in Ethernet Operations, Administration and Management (OAM) by using Connectivity Fault Management (CFM, standardized as IEEE 802.1ag) and Ethernet Performance Management (EthOAM, standardized as ITU Y.1731).
