Dr. Kumar N. Sivarajan, CTO, Tejas Networks speaks at NCC, IIT Madras.

Bangalore, India, January 31- February 2, 2003 : Dr. Kumar N. Sivarajan, CTO, Tejas Networks conducted a tutorial on “Next Generation Optical Networks” along with Abhay Karandikar of IIT Bombay. This workshop dealt with the developments in next-generation optical networking technology, the need to provide cost-effective solutions for deploying data services over an SDH/SONET network infrastructure especially for providing Ethernet/IP services, the emergence of DWDM as a technology of choice for high capacity backbone networks. Also discussed were issues such as the use of optics for switching and the developments in the control and management of optical networks, including the currently evolving Generalized Multi-Protocol Label Switching (GMPLS) standards.

Dr. Sivarajan, also spoke at the workshop “201M connections by 2001- Making a Business Case” along with other eminent panelists and participated at the “Indian Product Showcase “. At the product showcase the TJ100 family of next-generation SDH/SONET products from Tejas Networks was presented.
