Tejas Networks wins MTNL order for Next-generation SDH equipment for Delhi
Bangalore, India, February 17, 2004: Tejas Networks India Ltd., a leader in next-generation SDH products announced that it has bagged the order from MTNL for the expansion of its optical network in Delhi. MTNL will be deploying Tejas’ TJ100 series of Next-generation SDH products for STM-1, STM-4 and STM-16 capacity (up to 2.5 Gbps).
MTNL is India’s incumbent operator in Delhi and Mumbai (the 2 largest metros in India). In the past 17 years, the company has taken rapid strides to emerge as India’s leading and one of Asia’s largest telecom operating companies and has also been listed on NYSE. MTNL procures its equipment through an open tender process. Tejas has won this order against competition from global optical networking vendors.
“We are pleased to have won this business from such a prestigious PTT like MTNL. Our products meet the latest standards specified by ITU as well as TEC (Telecom Engineering Center) of India. We are the first company in India to get Type Approval certificate against the latest specifications of Next-generation SDH equipment that TEC has specified. Winning this business against global vendors confirms our strategy of developing technically advanced, but cost-effective products that provide maximum value to our customers”, said Sanjay Nayak, Co-founder & CEO, Tejas Networks.
Tejas TJ100 is a family of multi-service products that enable customers to build next generation SDH/SONET networks that can service voice, video and data applications. Traditional voice applications are serviced through E1/E3 interfaces while data applications can be serviced by rate-controllable 10/100 Mbps Ethernet interfaces. Intelligent Network management capabilities, such as automatic topology discovery and point-and-click provisioning are enabled by advanced software including Generalized Multi-Protocol Label Switching (GMPLS) optical signaling code running on every TJ100 product.
