Bangalore, India, April 30, 2003: Tejas Networks today announced 180% growth in its sales revenue over the previous year and has bagged ten new telecom customers during the last year. Tejas’ success, especially in the current telecom market, is a strong indicator of the customer acceptance of its TJ100 next-generation optical networking products.

Founded in 2000, Tejas Networks, is focused on developing and selling leading edge, yet practical, optical networking products to global customers. Tejas is pioneering the trend for Indian companies moving up the value chain and developing state-of-the-art products by using India’s engineering talent in Software, ASIC/FPGA, System and Hardware Design.

Tejas’ TJ100 range of next-generation SDH/SONET products enable telecom carriers to build converged networks that support traditional voice-based services, as well as new, data-dominated services, at substantial cost savings. In addition to savings in CapEx and OpEx, Tejas products enable new revenue-generating services such as Bandwidth-on-Demand and Ethernet leased lines. Tejas has the unique distinction that its TJ100 product was used for rolling out India’s first Ethernet-over-SDH network.

Tejas has roped in ten new customers during the last fiscal year, against global competition. They include winning the national optical fiber network for RailTel (for over 6000 thousand km of optical fiber), basic services networks for operators such as Hughes Telecom, Tata Teleservices and Shyam Telecom, ISP backbone network for DishnetDSL, Metro networks for Tata Power, MTNL and Iqara Broadband, and optical network for Indian Railways. In addition, Tejas has also forged OEM partnerships with International DLC players like Hitron Technologies (Taiwan) and MIC Electronics (India).

“We chose Tejas Networks for their proven SDH products as well as NMS integration capabilities. We also delight in having a partnership with Tejas who has a strong R&D team for developing competitive, next-generation optical transmission products and customizing their offerings to our needs”, said Fuyung Lai, General Manager of. Hitron Technologies. Dr. Ramana Rao, MD, MIC Electronics added, “We chose Tejas over other available options for SDH products because of their superior products as well as the support of its R&D team in India.”

“I am very pleased that Tejas has had so much success during the last year. In the current environment where telecom carriers demand the latest technology products at the most competitive prices, we have registered 10 new customer wins against global competition. In fact, we have shipped over 1500 units of TJ100, which is a clear indication of the customer acceptance of our products. In addition to gaining significant market share in India, we also received good success internationally,” said Sanjay Nayak, Co-founder & CEO, Tejas Networks.
