Tejas Networks Ltd., a leader in next-generation optical networking products, announced today that their Packet Optical Transport (POTP) product, TJ1600 has been recognized at the prestigious NASSCOM Innovation Awards 2011 for New Technology Advancement. NASSCOM’s Innovation Awards seek to recognize companies that have set the highest benchmark in innovation and at the same time, promote the culture of innovation in the industry. This is the second year running that Tejas has won this recognition from NASSCOM.

“We are delighted with this recognition from a premier technology industry association like NASSCOM. Tejas Networks is a company that is committed to R&D excellence and innovation in telecom products. We are playing a significant role in providing scalable and Future ReadyTM transmission solutions to telecom service providers. Our innovative products enable them to address the challenge of scaling up their network for massive growth in data, driven by mobile internet, video and business services, while maintaining a large and growing customer base for voice traffic. We are seeing tremendous success with our POTP products with deployments in Indian and international telecom operator networks. In India, operators like Bharti, Aircel and MTS, among others have installed TJ1600 successfully. The combined subscriber base addressed by these operators alone is over 250 million”, said Sanjay Nayak, CEO & MD.

Arnob Roy, President Engineering added, “Tejas POTP portfolio enables service providers to seamlessly transition 2G networks serving all-voice traffic to 3G/4G networks serving predominantly data traffic at their own pace. TJ1600 is a POTP product that can be deployed as a 100% native TDM box today and can be smoothly migrated to a 100% pure-packet box  in the future on the same shelf. It is a unified platform with best-in-class interface density and versatility. TJ1600 also supports advanced technologies like OTN, Carrier-grade Ethernet and DWDM, thus making it a truly scalable and Future ReadyTM platform.”
